This sample of lime green-yellow amakinite store in vaseline oil, because it is very rapidly oxidized in the water and in the air to limnite. It was in shore of lake Redkino, where in sand are iron hydroxides. I was very happy when I found a little piece of the limnite with green crystals inside. Only later, when I asked in Google the natural hydroxides of iron, I understood that it was a rare mineral - amakinite. I do not know how this hydroxides were form. It was worse sample of small amount of amakinite on limnite from this locality. I oxidized this amakinite (RIP) by hydrogen peroxide, and he acquired a rusty color. Then I had dissolved it in a solution of potassium hydroxide in "Bleach" and after some time the solution acquired a dark crimson color. Potassium ferrate has formed by this reaction. So I determined in these crystals of amakinite.
Limnite was disolwed in 45 % sollution of sulfuric acid. Formed iron(III) sulfate. After pouring of 2% solution of baking soda and releasing carbon dioxide and fell brown precipitate (probably basic carbonate of iron (III) or iron (III)hydroxide). After filtration and evaporation of the solution crystallized sodium sulfate, which instantly weathered.
