Locality 23, Arroyo San Angel - Beal (1948) | Beal C. H. (1948) | Ysidro - Upper | Collection from a bed of marl in the upper part of the Ysidro Formation. The Ysidro Formation consists of dirty-white sandstone, underlying the Comondu Formation. The formation varies in lithology from place to place and apparently becomes more tuffaceous towards the gulf coast. The formation can be subdivided into two members, a lower shale member and an upper sandstone member. Faun correlated to the Temblor of California, and possibly the Vaqueros of California, although a lower Temblor age (e | marl | 23.03 - 15.97 Ma Miocene |
Locality 15, San Ignacio - Beal (1948) | Beal C. H. (1948) | Tepetate | Paleocene and Eocene series are named the Tepetate Formation in Baja California. The strata probably underlie a large part of the region covered by latter rocks, the uppermost beds lapping over the edges of the older formations and lying on the granite of the main range. Unclear whether Paleocene (Smith's suggestion that the fauna is similar to the Martinez), or Eocene (Stewart's opinion). Paleocene chosen by enterer for consistency. | siltstone | 66 - 56 Ma Paleocene |
