The drill core intersected a karst-hosted manganese ore body that is intimately associated with a residual chert breccia known as the Wolhaarkop chert breccia.
The exact location of the borehole is uncertain. According to the conference poster of Costin et al. (2014) the location seems to be approximately 5km west of the town of Lohatla whereas in a subsequent article (Costin et al. (2015)) the authors give a much wider area in which the borehole is located and closer to the town of Postmasburg (see Postmasburg manganese field) and Kolomela mine.
