Large (175mm) quartz crystal shot through with dark green tourmaline crystals.
First visited the mine in April 2013 and bought this from the mine owner who had recently found a pocket of tourmalinated quartz. This is the best piece from the find.
The pocket was in the floor of the pit.

Bought in Arusha in July 2015. One of a batch of single crystals. Many have this orange/red zoning within the yellow of the crystal. This piece shows the zoning particularly well. The crystals show a chatoyancy that appears to be caused by the interface of the yellow and red areas. This view is along the C-axis.
