Abstract/Notes | In the last century, uranium mineralization was the main subject of exploration in the Sudetes. The largest accumulations of ores, associated with the Karkonosze Massif, were discovered in its metamorphic cover - in the Kowary-Izera Unit. The most important places in the Izera Metamorphic Complex, where uranium-bearing mineralization was found, are: Kopaniec, Wojcieszyce, Radoniów and Kromnów. In this paper, rock samples containing uranium minerals, from old dumps and adits located at these places, were analyzed. In order to identify the phases, and to recognise the paragenesis of secondary uranium mineralization, the collected samples were analyzed using a scanning electron microscope coupled with energy dispersion spectrometers (SEM-EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). In addition, the samples were subjected to chemical analyzes using an electron microprobe with wavelength dispersion spectrometers (EPMA). Based on the conducted research, the following minerals were identified: uraninite, meta-autunite, matatorbernite, saléeite, bassetite, phosphuranylite, zeunerite, uranophane and sklodowskite. |
