PhotosIncorrect locality designation and needs to be changed

This specimen is from the amethyst deposits of Irai Rio Grande do Sul as it has the characteristics of the specimens mined from Irai which are formations in a flower type arrangement as described in the description. These are from a basalt and no such deposits exist in Minas Gerais. The locality caption needs to changed. A lot of amethyst from the Rio Grande do Sul was sold as being from Minas Gerais and this especially occurred in the 60’s and 70’s of last century.

"This specimen is from the amethyst deposits of Irai Rio Grande do Sul..."
It is from Conselherio Pena. I purhased 30 or so of these from Luiz Menezes (former Mindat Manager & stickler for acccurate locality information concerning the specimens that his business sold) in the mid-late 2000's.
Many of the specimens in that lot were associated with muscovite and\or feldspar. Also, smoky quartz does not occur in the geodes of Rio Grande do Sul.

Minas Gerais is over twice the size of the state of Victoria so any statement such that no basalt formations occur in that State are automatically suspect.
Rio Grande do Sul is also not the only area where amethysts occur, similar also occur in Uruguay

What I should have written is that as far as I am aware Minas Gerais does not have the Amethyst geode bearing basalt like the basalt flows that extend throughout Rio Grande do Sul into Uruguay. Yes, it does have basalt flows as it is a known producer of zeolites and associated species but very few of these specimens have made it into international market. It is most unlikely that a Uruguayan amethyst specimen would be labelled as coming from Brazil so I am trusting that all the Amethyst /agate lined geodes with calcite are actually from Brazilian localities which would then put them as more than likely coming from Rio Grande do Sul as there is definitely no locality known in Minas Gerais that has ever produced these type of specimens.
