Something like "Nice molybdenite & magnetite from Norway: more detailed locality ?"
André, please provide us with the dimensions of this nice specimen, so we have a better idea of how large those molybdenite "flakes" are ...
Cheers, Herwig

During the weekend I had contact with Lars and he sent me the following about this mineral.
"I have checked with a Swedish mineralogical database and found a similar piece. This is said to come from a mine close to Fagersta in Sweden. The name of the mine is not given."
So this piece comes from Fagersta, Sweden and not from Norway as first thought.
That's how my problem is solved. Thanks everyone for the help.

Even though I don't refute this attribution, I think the "identification" is problematic.
A guy called "Lars" (surname?) have found a "similar piece" (by comparing what exactly?) in a "Swedish mineralogical database" (which database?)
cheers

Hi Johan. More information of the piece magnetite-molybdenite.
Hi André H
I have asked a friend who knows the mines and quarries in the Fagersta area very well, He doesn't knows of any iron mine with the combination of iron ore and molybdenite in that area. However only that molybdenite can be found with garnet skarn.
All the best, Allan Ekberg -
Hi Allan,
I suppose you have the SMIDA/SAMLA database.
When searching on “Photos of Molybdenit” I found a similar piece with Molydenite in Magnetite and the location says “outside Fagersta”.
This is the new information I have.
Best regards
André
