I'm sure most people are aware of this site, but it was new to me so I'll post a link. It is a map of the United States; if you click on the spot, it will show you all the maps in the database that cover the area in question. At the top of the left list are two filters for scale, and type of map. I just started exploring this sight and haven't found all the features. I did notice that if you click on a resource in the left column the map will show you the outline of the area of that map. It should be useful. I found this in a post on, rockhounds@drizzle.com.   https://ngmdb.usgs.gov/mapview/?center=-97,39.6&zoom=4

very nicely done, it's a shame it's just the US though
