An absolutely classic Norwegian mineral of course . . . my own reference specimen is well over a century old.

Knut, thanks for sharing this beautiful find. Small amounts of thulite were found in Haddam, Connecticut USA.

Wow that's a lot of thulite!

This brings back memories, as I think one of the first specimens I bought in the early 80s was a chunk of thulite at a jumble sale. At the time I had no idea what it was, but thought it was really odd to have a pink coloured rock.

Some of that new norwegian material was on sale in Tucson earlier this year, collected in mid-January by German dealer Gunnar Farber, just before the show, and who had photos on the wall of himself standing in the falling sleet at the tunnel entrance. Mid-January is probably not the best collecting weather in Norway but, as the Scandinavians say, there is no such thing as bad weather, only inadequate clothing.
