Identity HelpBlue Fluorite- Wolsendorf, Germany(?)

I recently bought a large blue fluorite from Germany from an old collection. It came with two old labels, both stating the same location: Wolsendorf, Germany. The older label is from Colorado Geological Industries, Inc. I was told this is an old piece from the 1920's or 30's, and I suspect the older label is from the 40's. It features a single sky blue fluorite crystal that measures 5cm to the face. It weighs 31oz., and has yellow massive fluorite matrix. Some of the cube faces are sprinkled with small, worn scalenohedral calcite crystals to 3mm, some which are double terminated. From my research so far, I have seen only one piece from Wolsendorf with any blue at all, and it looked nothing alike. I would like to add this specimen to Mindat, but would like to be sure I have the correct locality first. This is my first German fluorite, and I'm pretty excited about it!

The only blue fluorite mentioned from Woelsendorf seems to be from this mine (Grube Kuppel).

So far, I am leaning toward Saxony in terms of appearance. I would like to hear some more opinions.

According to the Mineralogical Record Archives, Heinz Eckert had made frequent travels to Europe early in the 1950's to buy mineral stock, but he also had a rather mixed history of operation and didn't rename his business to the "Colorado Geological Industries" until 1968 when he purchased Merle Reid and George Robertson remaining stock of minerals. This was at the age of 66, less than a decade before he passed away. No telling by that latter label when or where this material may have actually came to him. No indication he specialized in German material either.

All I can say is the piece doesn't immediately remind me of any particular German locality. Some Fluorspar district vary quite a bit by color, some do not. I've never seen a Wölsendorf Blue Fluorite, but that may be just anecdotal. Hopefully someone will know better, I just wouldn't be so quick to assume it was from Halsbrücke though, just because it's better known for producing blue colored Fluorite.

Awesome information Mark, thank you! I'm going to see if anyone has a clue over at the Fluorite, Germany thread in Best Minerals as well. Good historical information, to say the least.
