Ferro-ferri-taramite from
Breivikbotn Carbonatite, Breivikbotn alkaline Complex, Sørøya, Hasvik, Troms og Finnmark, Norway
Locality type: | Complex | |
Classification | ||
---|---|---|
Species: | 'Ferro-ferri-taramite' (not an IMA approved species) | |
Formula: | Na(CaNa)(Fe32+Fe23+)(Al2Si6O22)(OH)2 | |
Comments: | One of five amphibole analyses presented by Zozulya et al.(2018) normalizes to ferro-ferri-taramite using Locock(2014). The analyses normalizes with more than 1 apfu in the A position, less than 5 apfu in the C position, and the Na B normalizes to 0.502apfu. The analyzed sample is not described, so the relation with the dominant magnesio-hastingiste is not established. With the uncertainties in the quality of the analysis and calculations of the Fe3+ content, further work will be necessary to confirm the presence of this mineral at the locality | |
