Definition of subhedral
i. Said of a mineral grain that is bounded partly by its own rational crystal faces and partly by surfaces formed against preexisting grains as a result of either primary crystallization or recrystallization.
Some faces relate to the minerals own crystal forms and symmetry, but some original faces may have been obscured by later physical or chemical erosion.
