Mina da Herdade de Vila Ruiva, Sobral da Adiça, Moura, Distrito de Beja, Portugal
Zn-Pb-Fe mine (mining concession no. 628, registered on 15-09-1914).
Included in the Preguiça-Vila Ruiva mining field (mining concessions 363, 628, 629, 630).
Campo Mineiro da Preguiça and Vila Ruiva
Ossa Morena area, Massifs of Évora - Beja
Geology of occurrence:
Description: on the surface, both in Vila Ruiva and in Preguiça, there are iron caps, mainly in the midst of Cambrian dolomites arranged in anticline; in depth, mineralization of Zn-Pb(Ag) occurs in tabular layers oriented N 45º W and 50º E, with compact ore and pockets of earthy ore, associated with dolomitic limestones in which impregnations of pyrite, galena and chalcopyrite appear and located in the proximity to volcanoes. Zn-Pb(Ag) mineralizations are pre-orogenic. There are still hematitic layers independent of previous mineralizations and interstratified in shales, which extend for 1,500 m with a N 60º W direction, a gentle slope to NE and an average height of 3 m.
Major Mineralizations: Smithsonite (Zinc Spar, Calamine), Hydrozincite (Zinc Flower), Galena, Siderite (Ferrous Spar), Hematite (Oligist), Goethite (Acicular Iron Ore)
Morphologies: stratiform, gossan
Host rocks: dolomites, crystalline limestone, schist
Local geology: Moura-Ficalho anticlinorium. Vulcan-sedimentary complex.
Regional geology: Cambrian. Silurian in LNEG

Morfologias: estratiforme, gossan
Rochas encaixantes: dolomitos, calcários cristalinos, xistos
Geologia local: anticlinório de Moura-Ficalho. complexo Vulcano-sedimentar.
Geologia regional: Câmbrico. Silúrico in LNEG
