A former underground Cu-Ag-Au-Pb-Zn-V-Mo mine located in the NE¼SE¼ sec. 3, T.23S., R.15E, on National Forest land. Owned/operated at times, or in part, by Keegan; the Sonoita Copper Co.; and, Evans (1975).
Mineralization is in the intersections of faults and fractures containing spotty pyrite, chalcocite, galena and ruby silver ina gangue of quartz, psilomelane and gouge. Strong oxidation but weak alteration of Precambrian metamorphic and Jurassic granitic intrusive wall rocks.
Workings include shaft operations. Sporadic mining was carried on in the 1880's and from 1916 through 1918. It produced some 500 tons of ore averaging about 8% Cu, 11 oz. Ag/T and minor Au & Pb.
