A former Cu-U occurrence/mine located in the NW¼NE¼ sec. 30, T37S, R15E, SLM, (4.55 miles SE from the Chocolate Drop), on Bureau of Land Management administered land (located claim). Owned & operated by Calvin Black Enterprises, Utah (1978). The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 100 meters. A sign was posted: "Government agents and inspectors keep out." Deposit and workings not investigated.
Mineralization is hosted in Late Triassic sandstone of the Chinle Formation, Shinarump Member. The ore body is tabular, blanket-like (mantos). Controls for ore emplacement included channel fill, carbonized plant remains. Local rocks include Triassic (1) sedimentary rocks in Salt southeastern Utah and/or Triassic (2) sedimentary rocks in southeastern Utah.
Workings include unspecified and uninvestigated underground openings.
Utah Geologic and Mining Survey (1973) lists U at 0.2%, 500 tons measured, 5,000 tons indicated and 25,000 tons inferred.
