These mines all worked the same ore body, which bore copper, as well as the usual lead-zinc ore. They all worked between 1900 and 1920. The ore was in disseminations and pitch and flat structures in the Ordovician carbonate rocks of the Decorah Formation. Secondary oxidation produced a host of interesting copper and zinc minerals.
