Description: Supergene mineralization of the uranium deposit Slavkovice, western Moravia. The supergene uranyl mineral assemblage from the mine dump of abandoned uranium deposit Slavkovice, western Moravia, Czech Republic is described in this paper. Billietite, wolsendorfite, metaautunite and uranophane have been determined using chietly X-ray powder diffraction ana!ysis, chemical analysis and infrared vibrational spectroscopy. Two stages of origin of the supergene mineral assemblage have been distinguished in the deposit. The formation of supergene uranium mineralization at the Slavkovice deposit took place in two geochemically and geologically different environments. The formation of minerals of the first association took place in the conditions of the supergene zone in situ, in a geological environment undisturbed by anthropogenic influences. Uranyl oxides, phosphates and silicates are formed here. In the second case, in the conditions of open mining work and in heap material subrecentely to recently an association of uranyl carbonates and sulphates is formed, especially voglite, uranopilite, zippeite and sodium zippeite (Mazuch, 1995).
