Cyprus type volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) copper-zinc deposits, hosted by pillow lava in the upper part of an ophiolitic suite belonging to a Middle to Late Ordovician back-arc spreading ridge. The tabular to columnar ore bodies are located in basic lava in the upper part of the ophiolitic suite, or in the roof of the upper basic lava, between the lava and tuff. Their distribution is controlled by a fracture system of sea floor thermal brine circulation.
