The Nine Mile Pluton is the youngest and most silicic of the plutons making up the Wausau Intrusive Complex. It is composed mostly of alkali granite and monzonite. The rock is generally deeply weathered, and the "grus" is widely quarried. Interesting pegmatites are often encountered during quarry operations.
