A nickel mine owned by Falconbridge Nickel Mines, Ltd. Ore is in the Sudbury nickel irruptive. Mine was started 1928, attained a depth of at least 4,000 feet (1,300 meters) and closed June, 1984.

As early as 1899, Thomas A. Edison, the inventor, found geophysical
indications of interest and sank a prospect shaft on what was later found to be the orebody; however, a layer of quicksand could not be penetrated, and bedrock was not reached. It was not until 1916-17 that E. J. Longyear Company of Minneapolis, Minn., located the ore by drilling along the norite contact. They located deposit ranging from 10 to 150 feet wide over a length of 1 1/2 miles and to depths as great as 580 feet, with a metal content ranging from l to 5 percent combined nickel and copper.

The property was dormant until 1928 when it was acquired by Ventures,
Limited. After further drilling, Falconbridge Nickel Mines, Limited, was
organized, and the mine was developed. Production from the company's smelter
commenced in February, 1930, and has continued without interruption ever since.
