About Unnamed (Pb Oxysulphate Hydrate)Hide

Formula:
3PbO · PbSO4 · H2O
Formula is also written Pb4O3SO4.H2O.
Crystal System:
Triclinic
White to colourless, lath-shaped (pseudo-orthorhombic) crystals up to 0.7 mm; associated with hydrocerussite; formed by anthropogeneous processes (concrete used in mine) (Clara mine, Black Forest; Kolitsch, 2000). Subsequent finds show an association with plumbonacrite (Kolitsch, unpubl. data).

Also recently found in a Pb-rich slag from Salzburg, Austria (Kolitsch, data from 2012, in prep.) and in a copper slag from Vorarlberg, Austria (Kolitsch and Kiseljak, 2022).

Well-known as a synthetic phase (Kuzel, 1973; Steele et al., 1997).
