Aurelia Crown Mine; Crown Power Mine
A molybdenum mine near the head of Railroad Creek. It worked a flat lying quartz vein, reaching 3' at maximum and 3" at minimum, occurring in in labradorite-granodiorite of the early Miocene Cloudy Pass Pluton. The deposit was discovered around 1897 and worked intermittently until 1933. Development consisted of an upper adit roughly 300' long with some room and pillar stoping, a lower crosscut adit around 500' long that failed to reach ore, and several shorter adits and cuts. A sawmill, tramway, and mill were built below the mine. It produced some ore from 1897-1902. 10 tons of ore were produced in 1901 and 12 tons in 1902. A considerable amount of hand cobbed molybdenite crystals were also shipped from the mine as ore.
