In 1947, underground exploration from the old Lumsden Mine by Silver Miller Mines Ltd. resulted in the discovery of rich silver ore beneath Brady Lake. The company continued to use the Lumsden Shaft until 1949 and then shifted operations to the old Pan Silver shaft south of Brady Lake, which it deepened from 61m to 192m and renamed the Silver Miller No.4 Shaft now known as the Silver Miller Mine. Silver Miller Mines held three claims covering Brady lake; the Pan Silver claim, Rochester claim, and Lumsden claim, each with a shaft and waste dump. Total production was about 7,000,000 oz. Ag; 190,000 lbs. Co; 8,600lbs. Ni; and 11,000 lbs. of Copper.
