Structure: Small Faults; Slickensides On Surfaces.

Alteration: Sericite, Kaolin; Silicification; Bleaching

Deposit: Silicified breccia outcrop on N edge of old shaft, explored by several pits and trenches to s W and by adits to ne.- breccia appears to be along a n10 E shear zone cutting punky,- banded rhyolite tuff. The rocks are bleached to tan and dull -off-white color and are kaolinized and laced with clear lavendar-tinted quartz veinlets, some up to 1.5 inches thick, vuggy,- oriented parallel to the shear zone. Some sericite clots in vein, also, possibly, alunite. Some breccia fragments show slickensides on surfaces. Breccia mostly clear to white quartz cemented by quartz. Cementing quartz contains up to 50-60 % pyrite As spots and cubes; pyrite appears to be floating in quartz,- some sphalerite seen, also. Vertical shaft 260 ft. Deep in 1911. ; info.src : 1 pub lit; 2 unpub rept; 3 field observe discovery year: early 1900's

Deposit type: Epithermal vein, Comstock

Geology: Vein consists of clay gouge with quartz stringers 8-10" wide 3. The shear zone may project to bleached area on mcconnell peak to the north, and to birthday mine area to south.

Ore(s): N10e Shear Zone, Brecciated
