Abandoned Pb-Zn, Ni-Co, and Ag mine located on the right side of Rio Bau Porcus.

Prospect workings were driven after 1850 on the remnants of ancient workings by the company "Compagnia Generale delle Miniere". A large mass of native silver and acanthite was found at the intersection of two quartz veins. In the period 1874-76, 142 tons of silver ore were excavated. The mining concession, conferred in 1876 to the same company, was taken over by the company "La Fluminese" in 1884, and by the company "The United Mines Company Ltd." in 1890. In 1929, after periods of inactivity, the mining right was transferred to the company "Società Mineraria e Metallurgica Pertusola", which in 1934 leased the property to the state-owned mining company Azienda Minerali Metallici Italiani (AMMI) for 10 years. In 1938, during explorations for Ni-Co ores, a huge crevice lined with crystals of native bismuth and bismuthinite was opened. Later, the mining right was transferred to the companies "Società Monteponi e Montevecchio S.p.A." (1965) and "Piombo Zincifera Sarda" (1969).

The mine exploited five E-W trending polymetallic veins, with dominanant Pb-Zn sulfides and subordinate Cu, Ag and Ni-Co minerals, and five NNW-SSE trending quartz veins, with dominant galena. The gangue of the two most important polymetallic veins, named Cuccu Meu and Maggiore, is composed of quartz, fluorite, and baryte. At the Mitza Madeddu yard the main mined minerals were arsenopyrite and Fe-rich sphalerite (marmatite).

According to Sola (1968), sphalerite from the E-W trending polymetallic veins contains significant concentrations of cobalt.
