A Au-Ag-Pb mine located 1½ miles NE of Dos Cabezas village. Started 1878 and closed 1925-26. Owned at times, or in part by the LeRoy Consolidated Mines Co. (before 1920); Dorsey Brothers (1925-1926); Arilead Co. (1926-1927).
Mineralization is a vein system that strikes NE-ward and dips about 65ºSE. Ores consist of coarse-textured, grayish-white quartz with scattered sulfides. The vein is a few inches to 8 inches (20 cm) wide and, in places, separates into a stringer lode 4 or 5 feet wide. Ore occurs in erratically distributed bunches.
Workings include the LeRoy shaft, an inclined shaft more than 300 feet deep. There are 3 levels, 1500 feet workings on the Leroy. Also see the Climax Mine in this group for the Climax claim/shaft.
