This mine was amalgamated with South Crofty Mine in 1905. Before 1896, it had been associated with Tincroft Mine.
The modern New Cooks Kitchen vertical shaft takes its name from this old mine.
The old engine shaft of New Cooks Kitchen was used as a ventilation shaft by South Crofty and more recently was fitted with an Alimak elevator to give access to old workings at shallow depth and access new exploratory drives as part of the re-evaluation of South Crofty for potential re-opening.
