Large scree on the northwest slope of the ridge Monte Netto-Cresta della Colmine, in the vicinity of Pian dei Sali, consisting of serpentinite boulders.

Heazlewoodite grains from 0.5 to 2 mm in size are relatively frequent in serpentinite. Interesting associated minerals, beside green bunsenite and pecoraite, are micron-sized phases including millerite, nickeline, polydymite, shandite, and Pt-Cu alloys (different in composition from hongshiite).


Note: the serpentinite scree is accessed from Pian dei Sali, a locality frequently recorded on maps and in mountain literature as Piano dei Sali (correct spelling) or Piano del Sale (incorrect spelling). The incorrect toponym Piano del Sale originates from the incorrect singularization made by some cartographers of the word "sali", thought to be the plural form of the Italian word "sale" (i.e., salt). On the contrary, "sali" is here a Piedmontese word of Celtic-Latin origin meaning willow, which well describes the peculiar presence of goat willows (Salix caprea) in the humid areas of this plateau.
