Small, remote mining district discovered in 1873 off the Rio Verde in Morelos Municipio. Veins in granite and diorites, with very high grade pods (bolsas) separated 6-7 meters apart. generally shallow workings with significant oxidation.
Of specimen interest are 2-4 mm acanthite crystals and aggregates perched on masses of pearly white stilbite crystals to 1 cm in length. AE Foote handled a lot of these from the San Rafael Mine in 1886, and at least one went into the Bement Collection.
