On the north-west coast of Stewart Island as part of the Freshwater Shear System which crosses the island from north-west to south-east. The area contains leucogranite cut by a network of mineralised veins and faults up to 6 metres thick, and 250 metres long. The veins consist of quartz-pyrite, with a diverse assemblage including albite, molybdenite, (un-named) Ag, Bi, Au (Ag) tellurides, bismoclite, bismuthinite, aeschynite, fluorite, zircon, monazite, xenotime. Disseminated pyrite and red to yellow hematite overprints rocks adjacent to the veins. The surrounding leucogranite contains perthitic and antiperthitic alkali feldspar, minor magnetite and trace biotite.
