To the north of Verné hamlet a plagiogranite - FeTi-oxide gabbro association is exposed in the southern Basal Serpentinite Unit of Monviso meta-ophiolite and consists of a tabular body (about 400x250 m wide and 70 m thick) of jadeite-quartz-bearing massive metaplagiogranite in primary contact with omphacite – garnet – rutile ± glaucophane eclogite (recrystallized FeTi-oxide gabbro). Albite-quartz-bearing leucocratic layers within the metaplagiogranite body are interpreted as late-magmatic dykes. Despite Alpine re-crystallization under eclogite-facies conditions, both the FeTi-oxide gabbros and the plagiogranites retain most of their primary geochemical features.

The metaplagiogranite pyroxene is almost pure jadeite (0.89≤Na≤0.95).
In a contact band between eclogite and metaplagiogranite, glaucophane is the prevalent mineral with crystals attaining various centimetres in length. The larger crystals consist of ferroglaucophane with the ratios Fe2+/(Fe2+ + Mg) and Fe3+/(Fe3+ + Al) equal to 0.55 and 0.25, respectively.

A paragonite-bearing calcschist has been sampled to the west of Verné.
