One of several copper mines in the Årdal district worked intermittently between 1702 to 1734. The ore contained 2.5-6% Cu and 10 g/t Au in the product from the smelter. The Cu-ore is emplaced in brecciated rocks/shear zones in amphibolite layers and bands of mangeritic to jotunitic rocks. A rock sample from the dumps contained 0.85 ppm Au, 0.2 ppm Pd and >1% Cu, but with much lower average values. It is estimated that the Blåberget deposit represents a resource of 0,5 Mt of ore with 0.2-0.25% Cu.
