Ordinary chondrite, unequilibrated (H3.7)
Fall, 17 July 1974; 3.618 kg

Witnesses reported an increasing buzzing sound as meteorite descended, broke a tree branch, and landed on grass near a group of local residents. The meteorite was recovered immediately from a 10 cm deep hole. It is described as a very dark, dense chondrite with regmaglypts and fusion crust. Both Olivine and pyroxenes vary in composition, indicative of the meteorite's unequilibrated nature. Silicate-rich inclusions are also notable.

In September 2015 over 70 recovered H3.7 chondrites were listed as the Meteoritical Bulletin Database. However, Gorlovka was the only witnessed fall in this group.
