Eucrite, monomict
Fell 8 November 2004, 180 g

A small stone struck a car, ricocheted to the side of a house, and shattered. Major phases include pyroxenes (low- & high-Ca) and calcic plagioclase (bytownite). Minor phases include chromite and ilmenite with small amounts of silica, iron sulfide, and Fe-rich metal. While the rock is largely unbrecciated, it has some shock veins and small amounts of glass. Some pyroxene has been recrystallized.

Orlando's Fe/Mn ratio (~30) in low-Ca pyroxene is consistent with membership in the main group of HED meteorites (Howardites-Eucrites-Diogenites) which are believed to be fragments from asteroid 4 Vesta. However, confirmation from O-isotopes and/or radiometric chronology would be quite helpful. Several uncorrelated anomalies have made it clear that while Vesta is the original parent body (OPB) of most HED meteorites, it is not the OPB of all HED meteorites
