The locality is in the Wrangell-Saint Elias National Park and Preserve.
Location: This prospect is on the south end of the ridge between Kennicott and Root Glaciers (MacKevett, 1972). It is at an elevation of about 5,400 feet, 1,500 feet northwest of Donoho Peak (elevation 6696) and 4,500 feet east of Kennicott Glacier. This is locality 115 of MacKevett (1976). It is accurate to within a few hundred feet.
Geology: This prospect consists of sparsely distributed secondary copper minerals and chalcocite that are localized along a fault (MacKevett, 1976). The prospect which is explored by a short adit is in Triassic Chitistone Limestone near the contact with underlying Triassic Nikolai Greenstone (MacKevett, 1972).
Workings: The prospect was explored by a short adit.
Age: Cretaceous? The widespread deposition of copper in Triassic greenstone and limestone of the area is thought to have accompanied regional deformation and low-grade metamorphism in the Late Jurassic or Early Cretaceous (MacKevett and others, 1997). Copper-bearing minerals were deposited in the underlying Nikolai Greenstone at about 112 Ma (Silberman and others, 1980).
Alteration: Oxidation.
