Location: This occurrence is at an elevation of about 4,800 feet on a ridge about 2.2 miles south of lower Windy Creek. The site is in the SE1/4 of sec. 16, T. 21 S., R. 2 E., of the Fairbanks Meridian.
Geology: The general area of this occurrence is underlain by the Middle or Upper Triassic Nikolai Greenstone, which consists of massive, subaerial and submarine basalt flows and minor interbedded volcaniclastic sedimentary rocks, aquagene and epiclastic tuff, breccia, argillite, and radiolarian chert (Nokleberg and others, 1992). The occurrence is in greenstone and consists of a small, hydrothermally altered shear zone containing epidote, copper sulfide minerals, and possibly native copper and an iron carbonate mineral. Weathering locally produces malachite and azurite-coated float and encrustations.
Workings: Surface chip sampling only.
Age: Triassic or younger.
Alteration: Propylitic alteration of greenstone.
Commodities (Major) - Cu
Development Status: None
Deposit Model: Hydrothermally altered shear zone.
