Dutch Miller Claims; Cascade Development Mine
The Dutch Miller Mine was located at the head of the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River. The vein consisted of a small bonanza of rich copper ore, but access issues meant that the mine could never make money. Development consisted of several short adits and shafts. The operators tried to build a small tramway over crystal gap to the Foss River, but it was never completed.
The mine is recorded to have produced some ore which would have had to been packed out on the trail. Later on, a crosscut was attempted to reach the vein from Williams Lake but they only got ~80' in before giving up. The wilderness designation killed all later attempts of mining there.
