Borovina u Třebíče
Variegated residual rocks originated during Tertiary(?) weathering of marbles, dolomite marbles, calcic and magnesian skarns, quartzites and hornblendites intersected by aplites and granitic pegmatites. These rocks enveloped by the biotite gneisses and migmatites close to the contact with the Třebíč Pluton belong to the Moldanubian Zone of the Bohemian Massif. In the past, there was a short-time production of iron ore from the weathering zone, as well as production of mineral raw-material for brickworks.
Borovina is one of the town districts in Třebíč in the Czech Republic and it has a so-called new part and old part. In the old part, there are mainly family houses. In the younger part of Borovina (built in the seventies of the twentieth century), there are many blocks of flats near the market town of Stařeč.
The new part is situated in the valley of the Stařečský potok (Stařeč brook) and the Borovinský rybník (Pond of Borovina) is situated there as well.
