Mar 2015Re: Photo nowhere to be seen ?Reply from Pierre Rondelez in General.
OK, thanks Debbie, but you will understand my confusion. On my home page, my photo's are in order by "newest first" and are nowhere on page 1, so I scrolled an scrolled and found it: yes as the last photo on the last page (12) Strange would you not think, no wonder I did not see it Thanks ...

Mar 2015Re: Photo nowhere to be seen ?Reply from Pierre Rondelez in General.
Hi all, I waited a long time before picking this up again, but on the 31st of January, I posted this photo: http://www.mindat.org/photo-663716.html of a great multiple twinned Tsumeb cerussite. It is now nearly end of March and my (good) photo is still nowhere to be seen, not even on my home ...
Feb 2015Re: Chinese Languge SwitchReply from Pierre Rondelez in How to Contribute.
Same here... What I find baffling is that the language switch allows only to choose between English and Chinese. Whilst I bet there are very few Chinese speaking Mindat members but lots of German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch .... Strange !! Pierre
Feb 2015Re: No more emails from Mindat (followed topics & questioned photos)?Reply from Pierre Rondelez in General.
Same problem here.... Pierre

Feb 2015Re: Problems with message boardReply from Pierre Rondelez in General.
Hi, I was logged in today, tried to put a new message in and got the same red notice. Worse still, I WAS logged in and when trying to log in again, all of a sudden all the text was in Chinese (I presume). OK I could change the language to English (no other option ??) but at the same time lost my ...
Dec 2014Celestine not on Okorusu mineral list?Posted by Pierre Rondelez in General.
Today I posted this photo on Mindat: http://www.mindat.org/photo-653276.html When looking at the mineral list from this well known location,I was very surprised to notice that celestine is not on list from the Okorusu fluorite mine. Many Okorusu celestite specimens have been offered on some of ...

Sep 2017Re: Minerals Guaranteed NOT to Have Any Healing PropertiesReply from Pierre Rondelez in Fakes & Frauds.
Good on you Jeffrey, I applaud your stand and your humorous signs, also thumbs up for Alfredo when he points out that people actually die by delaying access to real medical treatment while they try "alternative therapies". I find it extremely disturbing that people claim at the same to be ...

Hi Bruce, If I can help with any of my photos on Mindat , I would be glad to. Of course I do not know about the mineral project your student is (was) working on but still: tell him not to hesitate to come in contact with me if ever he needs specific mineral photos . I'll see what I can ...

Dec 2013Re: Fluorite - Okorusu Mine, Otjiwarongo District, Otjozondjupa Region, NamibiaReply from Pierre Rondelez in Photos.
Debbie, have you read the text underneath? All that is missing is the price! This is blatant commerce and not conform to Mindat rules. All the best, Pierre

Apr 2013Baryte from St.-Laurent-du-PapePosted by Pierre Rondelez in Improving Mindat.org.
A friend/collector of mine bought, some years ago,in Southern France a very large, very old French mineral/fossil collection. I visited him 2 days ago and he showed me boxes and boxes full of these dark-honey coloured, tabular, rather beautiful baryte crystals from St.Laurent-du-Pape. The ...

Jan 2019Re: Why isn't my edit and/or photo listed?Reply from Pierre Rondelez in Improving Mindat.org.
Hi all (administrators), I posted this photo some days ago: http://www.mindat.org/photo-500192.html with light green apatite from Otjua Farm, Karibib District, Namibia. Before posting it, I noticed that apatite was not on the location's list so I mentioned that in my caption, thinking that ...

Dec 2012Re: Olmiite versus PoldervaartiteReply from Pierre Rondelez in Improving Mindat.org.
Yes Mario and all others, Things seem to be moving now (at last), only 7 remaining today of which 2 are probables, the other 5 (amongst which the head photo) are very suspicious. Cheers, Pierre
Nov 2012Re: Poldervaartite - Wessels Mine, Hotazel, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South AfricaReply from Pierre Rondelez in Photos.
Yes Lefteris, I agree but so does this: http://www.mindat.org/photo-368061.html Analysis has been done on this specimen and turned out clearly: olmiite......... By the way: olmiite has a very large variety of forms and/or colours, 2 examples ...
Nov 2012Re: POTD Poldervaartite?Reply from Pierre Rondelez in Mineral Photography.
Hi Paul, The poldervaartite "head picture" is one of ex-collection W. Israel which we both have known for many years (in my case more than 30 years) as being a very conscientious and fair mineral collector/dealer. But he bought these specimens from a South African dealer long before there was ...
Dec 2012Re: Olmiite versus PoldervaartiteReply from Pierre Rondelez in Improving Mindat.org.
Branko, Yesterday morning, there were 13 poldervaartites in the gallery, by evening 8 remained, the rest had been removed to the olmiite gallery. So yes, some changes were made yesterday........... Most of the ones remaining will remain there I am afraid, just look at who posted them on the ...
Nov 2012Re: Poldervaartite - Wessels Mine, Hotazel, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South AfricaReply from Pierre Rondelez in Photos.
By the way: In the poldervaartite formula here on Mindat there is no sign of Mn ? http://www.mindat.org/min-3252.html When according to the Handbook of Mineralogy it should be: (Ca;Mn2+)2(SiO3OH)(OH) Clearly something to be looked at, Pierre
Dec 2012Re: Olmiite versus PoldervaartiteReply from Pierre Rondelez in Improving Mindat.org.
Yes indeed Mario, More than3 years later and not much has changed on Mindat concerning Poldervaartite/Olmiite......... Strange to say the least. Pierre
Nov 2012Re: POTD Poldervaartite?Reply from Pierre Rondelez in Mineral Photography.
OK Uwe, thanks, let's hope this will once and for all settle the "Poldervaartite-problem" on Mindat, Cheers, Pierre
Nov 2012Re: POTD Poldervaartite?Reply from Pierre Rondelez in Mineral Photography.
My thoughts excactly.... What's more: NONE of the poldervaartite specimens on Mindat have been analyzed! Most of them are from "older collections" from before the mistake was known, some of the specimens are really here on Mindat to sell/promote them with as caption 100% ...
Nov 2012Re: Poldervaartite - Wessels Mine, Hotazel, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South AfricaReply from Pierre Rondelez in Photos.
Lefteris, You mention: The photo shows typical habit of one of the original finds of Poldervaartite in fact I have seen many, many similar olmiites from very recent finds in N'Chwaning II and II. I have some very good ones, just like the POTD-photo in my collection, they all come from ...
Nov 2012Re: POTD Poldervaartite?Reply from Pierre Rondelez in Mineral Photography.
Lefteris, I did look at the other thread in which you mention: The photo shows typical habit of one of the original finds of Poldervaartite in fact I have seen many, many similar olmiites from very recent finds in N'Chwaning II and II. I have some very good ones, just like the POTD-photo in my ...

Hi all, To start with: great photo by one of the greatest minerals photographers. http://www.mindat.org/photo-398139.html BUT: Is this already forgotten: http://www.mindat.org/mesg-7-104499.html. In which is stated that most probably 99 % (if not all) photographs on Mindat of Poldervaartites ...
Nov 2012Re: Hohenstein, NamibiaReply from Pierre Rondelez in Improving Mindat.org.
Thanks again Debbie, but still the question remains: the steep slopes, clearly visible on the topo-map extend well beyond Farm Bergsig, to the East on Farm Brabant and to the West on Farm Erongorus, and as there are no border markers on the terrain (steep slopes) how can the small miners know on ...
Nov 2012Re: Hohenstein, NamibiaReply from Pierre Rondelez in Improving Mindat.org.
Hi Debbie, Thanks for the map, that clarifies the Omaruru / Karibib question. As for the Hohenstein: is it so that this mountain starts on the near plateau above the steep slopes and is thus only the peak called Hohenstein, or are the slopes the bottom part of the same mountain ...
Nov 2012Hohenstein, NamibiaPosted by Pierre Rondelez in Improving Mindat.org.
Hi all, I am confused and hope some Namibia "specialists" here can shed light on the matter. I recently acquired a beautiful specimen labeled "Goshenite on Tourmaline, Hohenstein,Erongo Mts,Karibib District, Namibia. I photographed it : http://www.mindat.org/photos/0052971001353757525.jpg ...
