A former Hg occurrence/mine located in sec. 4, T16S, R8E, MDM, 7.1 km (4.4 miles) NNW of San Benito, W of Bald Mountain and E of Sulphur Creek (28 miles SE of Hollister). Discovered prior to 1900. Owned by William Butts. Operated during the period 1915-1919 and idle since then. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Upper Cretaceous Panoche Formation. The ore body is irregular in form. Local rocks include Upper Cretaceous marine rocks, unit 1 (Upper Great Valley Sequence).
Local structures include a breccia zone in sandstone.
