Other/historical names associated with this locality:
Crystal Palace Claim; Bald Hornet Claim

A prospect along the ridge between Mt. Teneriffe and Mt. Si. It was developed by several short cuts and was covered by both the Bald Hornet and Crystal Palace claims. The deposits occur in highly sericitized Miocene granodiorite breccias. These were among the earliest patented mining claims located in King County. In the 1970's they were owned by the late Henry J. Wrightsman. Later they were bought by Storm Stevenson who built a cabin on one of the claims. The claims were later sold to the State of Washington and became part of the Mount Si Natural Resource Conservation Area.

Note: There is some confusion about the naming of this locality. The breccia zone that produces crystals outcrops on both the historic Bald Hornet and Crystal Palace claims. The vast majority if not all of the crystals produced from it came from the Crystal Palace claim. A mistake in locating the claims on the map by early collectors however has since led to many pieces being sold as from the Bald Hornet Claim. Technically these specimens should be attributed to the Crystal Palace claim, but as the claims are on the same deposit and adjoin each other, they are referred together as the Bald Hornet Claim/Prospect.
