A former Cr-Fe occurrence/mine located about 4.3 km N of Hughes Mill, S of Pagge Creek, on a located claim on private and/or National Forest land. Discovered and first produced in 1918. Closed in 1958. Owned by U.S. Forest Service, Tahoe National Forest (100%), California (1976). Owned & operated by Joseph Delmue (last operator), California (1958)(1976). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters. The main workings are approximately 200 feet E of Finning Mill Road, adjacent to an intersecting dirt road from a shallow gulch.

Mineralization is hosted in serpentinite. The ore body strikes N70W and dips 00N at a thickness of 1 meter, depth-to-top of 3 meters, width of 61 meters, and a length of 610 meters. Ore body No. 1 is disseminated, lenticular. Ore body No. 2 is tabular. The primary mode of origin was magmatic differentiation. Primary ore control was lithology and the secondary mode was fracturing. Wallrock alteration is intense (carbonitization). Small ore bodies are localized within a zone having the above dimensions and strike. The deposit occurs in a mass of ultramafic rocks that have intruded Paleozoic metamorphics of the Calaveras group. A thick (up to 10 feet) mantle of residual soil covers the chromite-bearing serpentinites. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).

Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of several small shafts (now flooded), an adit (now caved) and several shallow piots and trenches (1975).

Production data are found in: Stinson, M.C. (1975), Mineral Property Report, California Division of Mines and Geology (unpublished report).

No reserve estimated in the literature. A grade of 10.7 long tons of ore shiopped in 1944 by the Metals Reserve Company was 46.59% Cr2O3, with a CR:Fe ratio of 2.6. Total production was 600 to 700 tons.

Analytical data results: 46.39 to 48.80% Cr2O3.
