625 m high volcanic island composed mainly of hornblende andesite lava and pyroclastics, with lesser amounts of dacite and basaltic andesite. Some lavas are anomalously high in Cr and Ni (Tokiko Chiba, 1989). Minor sulphides and secondary copper minerals present in alteration zone around a hot spring. (Note: Beware of wild cattle when hiking or collecting on Kuchino Island!)
