The occurrence of 1–1.5 m thick chromitite veins in the Grochowiec Hill. The chromitite bodies were surrounded by alteration zones (salbands) – similar to chromitites from the e Gogolów–Jordanów Serpentinite Massif. The chromitites from the Braszowice–BrzeŸnica Massif occur within serpentinites of dunitic/harzburgitic composition, which contain abundant relics of olivine and clinopyroxene.
Four types of chromian ore can be distinguished in the Braszowice–BrzeŸnica Massif: (1) massive, (2) brecciated, (3)nodular and (4) disseminated chromitite. Massive ore (>90% chromite) contains also chlorite and highly serpentinised olivine occurring in the interstices. The nodular ore consists of rounded chromite grains up to 3 cm in size, locally embedded in the chlorite groundmass. Magnesite grains (up to 0.5 cm) occur locally within chlorite plates. Brecciated or is probably developed from the pre-existing nodular one.
