Two outcrops of metaperidotites defined here as Centinela Bajo Norte and Centinela Bajo Sur. These ultramafic bodies are hosted by metasedimentary rocks.
The ultramafic bodies are covered by a thick lateritic soil on which a dense rainforest has developed, which gives little opportunity for direct observation of outcrops. Good exposures of the ultramafic rocks at three different sections of the Centinela Bajo Norte body (6 km long and 3 km wide): Loma de las Ovejas (easternmost part of the body), Loma Rurik (westernmost part) and Río de las Vacas (northern part).
