Hammerschmiede (Schmidbergerbruch), Bezirk Horn, Niederösterreich, Österreich
Two abandoned overgrown quarries in gneiss.
Prehnite was found in a diorite-pegmatite hosted in a "Ca-reich augite gneiss" (Himmelbauer, 1909, 1913). Axinite and fluorite, associated with prehnite, was reported by Himmelbauer (1913) from the larger of the two (then apparently active) quarries.
The prehnite is the product of hydrothermal alteration of feldspar, but also hornblende.
Two samples of axinite and two of prehnite from the „Hammerschmiede between Horn and Rosenberg“ are in the collection of the Natural History Museum Vienna (donated by A. Himmelbauer, catalogued in 1921).
The locality is called Raschmühle by Kiesewetter (2003).
Note: Coordinates are those of the larger of the two quarries (Schmidberger quarry).
