Nepheline basalt hill 382m, visible from a distance, towering over the entire area. Due to the castle on the top, which dates back to 1155. there was no open quarry on the hill in modern times (several smaller ones in the adjacent basalt outcrops). Only antique quarry from which the rock material was probably taken for the construction of the castle. In 1800 the first major conservation work was carried out at the behest of Prince Hans Heinrich XVI von Hochberg. Thanks to this, Grodziec Castle became the first place in Europe specially prepared for tourists.
