The Tauhara Geothermal Field has a total surface area of 50 km² and is located within the Taupo Volcanic Zone in the central North Island, New Zealand, 3 km northeast of Lake Taupo. The Waikato River borders the western side of the Tauhara field and Mt Tauhara, an extinct dacite volcano, is on the southeast. It is classed as a high enthalpy resource, with a natural energy output at 110 Mw. (Mauriohooho et al.,2014)
