The Blue Grouse Opal Mine is a deposit first discovered about 1953 by Dave Edminston and subsequently acquired by John Cantlin. Worked by Cantlin in the 1980's and operated for a period of time as a fee dig site. The locality is known for producing white, pink, and blue based common and precious opals from altered Rhyolite, in addition to Chalcedony and Agate. Best noted for a substantial find of precious blue opal in the late 1980's. Currently (2020) under claim.
