The main mine, known as Baccarato Condominio, was active in the period 1859-1969. A neighbouring mine, named Baccarato Mazzarino, was operated in the period 1902-1965.

Sulphur, often highly bituminous, was mined from two veins separated by a clayly layer attaining the total thickness of 5-8 m.
